Concrete Basin Packaging: How We Protect Your Order from Factory to Site
Concrete basins are heavy, fragile, and unforgiving during transit. The right packaging isn't an afterthought — it's the difference between a perfect delivery and a damaged claim. Here's exactly how we package concrete basins, and which option fits your shipping needs.
Why Concrete Basin Packaging Matters
Unlike ceramic or stainless steel basins, concrete is both heavy and porous. A single unreinforced basin can weigh 15-30 kg or more. During ocean freight, pallets shift; during last-mile delivery, boxes get dropped. Poor packaging leads to:
- Edge chipping — The most common damage, usually at corners and rims
- Crack propagation — A small impact crack can travel across the entire basin surface
- Surface scratching — Basins rubbing against each other inside the box
- Costly returns — Re-shipping a heavy basin doubles your logistics cost
That's why we offer two levels of standard packaging and a reinforced option for high-risk routes.

Standard Packaging (Included in Base Quote)
Every concrete basin order ships with one of two standard packaging options at no extra charge. Both use a 5-layer corrugated carton as the outer box.
Option A: 12 KG Foam Packaging
💡 What's inside
A custom-molded 12 KG EPS foam insert cradles the basin on all sides, absorbing shock during handling. The basin sits in a shaped cavity so it can't shift inside the box. Paired with a 5-layer carton for standard sea freight.

Option B: 3 CM Honeycomb Board Packaging
💡 What's inside
3 cm thick honeycomb board panels wrap around the basin instead of foam. Honeycomb board is lighter, more eco-friendly (recyclable, no plastic beads), and offers excellent compression resistance. Same 5-layer carton outside.
| Comparison | Option A (Foam 12KG) | Option B (Honeycomb 3CM) |
|---|---|---|
| Outer carton | 5-layer | 5-layer |
| Inner protection | 12 KG molded EPS foam | 3 cm honeycomb board |
| Weight impact | Adds ~12 KG per unit | Lighter, saves freight cost |
| Eco-friendliness | Standard EPS | Recyclable, lower carbon |
| Best for | Budget-conscious standard orders | Eco-focused buyers, lighter freight |
Both options are included in our standard concrete basin quote — no need to request them separately. Just tell us which one you prefer when placing your order.
Reinforced Packaging (Upgrade Option)
For higher-value basins, longer shipping routes, or rough-handling destinations, we offer a reinforced packaging upgrade. This uses a thicker inner protection and a stronger outer carton.
Upgrade Option A: 15 KG Foam + 7-Layer Carton
- Inner: 15 KG high-density EPS foam (3 KG more than standard)
- Outer: 7-layer corrugated carton for extra crush resistance
- Price: Surcharge applies — confirmed per model upon request
Upgrade Option B: 4 CM Honeycomb Board + 7-Layer Carton
- Inner: 4 cm thick honeycomb board (1 cm thicker than standard)
- Outer: 7-layer corrugated carton
- Price: Surcharge applies — confirmed per model upon request

💡 Drop Test Standard — Yes, We Can Do It
If you need packaging that meets a specific drop test standard (ISTA, ASTM, or your own protocol), we can arrange it. Since each basin model is different, the packaging design and price will be quoted individually. Just share your target standard and destination — we'll test and confirm.
Special Shipping: Wooden Crates & Pallets
Some orders need more than a carton. If you're shipping by air freight, ordering samples, or heading to a destination with rough handling, we support:
- Wooden crate framing — Timber frame around the carton for maximum impact protection
- Pallet shipping — Basins stacked on a pallet for forklift-friendly handling
- Pallet + stretch wrap — Wrapped and strapped for stability during transit
These are available as an add-on with an extra fee, since timber and pallet costs are quoted separately from the basin itself.

| Shipping Scenario | Recommended Packaging |
|---|---|
| Standard sea freight (LCL/FCL) | Standard Option A or B |
| Long route / rough handling | Reinforced A or B |
| Air freight | Reinforced + wooden crate |
| Sample orders | Wooden crate or pallet + wrap |
| Drop test requirement | Custom reinforced, tested per model |

Frequently Asked Questions
Is packaging included in the standard concrete basin price?
Yes. The standard packaging options — 12 KG foam + 5-layer carton, or 3 cm honeycomb board + 5-layer carton — are included in our base quote. You choose which one you prefer at no extra cost.
When do I need the reinforced packaging upgrade?
We recommend reinforced packaging (15 KG foam or 4 cm honeycomb + 7-layer carton) when your shipment is high-value, going to a destination with rough handling, or when your buyer requests a specific drop test standard. The surcharge depends on the basin model — contact us with your model number for a quote.
Can you do drop test packaging?
Yes. We can design and test packaging to meet drop test standards such as ISTA or ASTM. Since every basin model is different, the packaging design and pricing are quoted individually. Share your required standard and we'll handle the rest.
Do you offer wooden crate or pallet shipping?
Yes. For air freight, sample orders, or destinations that require extra protection, we can provide wooden crate framing, pallet shipping, or pallet + stretch wrap. These are available at an additional cost, quoted separately from the basin price.
Foam or honeycomb — which should I choose?
Both offer excellent protection. Foam (EPS) is more familiar and widely accepted. Honeycomb board is lighter — which can reduce freight costs — and more eco-friendly. If your market values sustainability or you're sensitive to shipping weight, honeycomb is the better choice.
How do I request a specific packaging option?
Simply tell us your preferred packaging type (standard A/B, reinforced A/B), any special shipping requirements (air freight, drop test, pallet), and your basin model number. We'll confirm availability and any additional cost before production starts.
